Powerenz LFP40 - 88W Sling Pack System

In the photo below, one can see the sling pack that encloses the battery and all of the electronics, and the unfolded 88-watt high-efficiency solar panel that is carried separately.

     This silent, lightweight, portable solar power generator utilizes the finest technology obtainable.  Powerenz LFP40 takes advantage of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry that weighs 50-60% less than a lead acid battery of equal energy capacity, and that will provide at least 2000 charge/discharge cycles before it begins to lose its rated charge capacity.  If you discharge a lead acid battery by 70% of its rated charge capacity every day, you will need to replace the battery every 250-300 days vs. every 2000 days when using the LFP battery in our system.  

     Powerenz LFP40 utilizes Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology solar charging which optimizes the electronic relationship between solar panel and battery.  This can accelerate the rate at which the battery can be solar-charged by up to 30% per day.  Our solar charging systems are configured specifically for our LFP series of portable solar power systems.

     This Portable Solar Power System can be carried during events where high power, high energy density and minimal weight are critical.  Powerenz LFP40 can provide power for a variety of portable electronic devices that require 12 volts DC up to 10 amps/120 watts, 120 volts AC up to 300 watts, and that can recharge itself in sunlight using the included light weight folding solar panel.  This system is best suited to provide power for small to medium size portable electronic devices, such as cell and satellite phones, communication radios, laptop computers, small battery chargers, night vision systems, satellite repeaters, lighting fixtures, small power tools, televisions, GPS’s, flashlights, small refrigeration units, and more. 

     The battery assembly, protective and regulatory circuitry, solar charge controller, power inverter, wiring, AC-powered battery charger, extension cable that connects the solar panel to the solar charge controller, and accessories are housed inside a water-resistant, tactical sling pack.  The solar panel is carried separately.  12-volt DC power is accessible via a female cigarette lighter socket that plugs into the battery, and that will automatically shut down before it over-drains the battery.  120-volt AC power is provided by an inverter that plugs into the battery, and that will automatically shut down before it over-drains the battery pack. 

     The Powerenz LFP40 Sling Pack System includes: Battery - rechargeable, 12.8-volt, 40 amp-hour, LFP battery that stores 512 watt-hours of energy.  The battery can be charged directly from the solar panel using the solar charge controller and custom connector cable, or from the included smart, 3-amp, 100-240VAC-powered charger that is configured for 12.8-volt LiFePO4 battery packs when the grid is available.  The AC recharging time is 14-15 hours from empty to full.         

      Solar panel – This hi-efficiency, water (IP65)- and weather-proof, uv-resistant, foldable solar panel comes with digital ACU camouflage or green-brown jungle camouflage on its external surface, and has the following nominal output ratings at Pmax: 88 watts; 5.165 amps; 17.024 volts.  Its open circuit voltage is 20.38 volts, and its short circuit current is 5.727 amps.  The inner surface that surrounds the solar cells is white.  This superior panel is manufactured in the USA using high-quality monocrystalline solar cells, the rated efficiency of which is 18.4%.  The panel weighs 8.1 pounds, and measures 23 x 12 x 2 inches folded, and 48 x 23 x 1/8 inches unfolded (7.03 square feet).  The power output connector can be a standard SAE twin-plug trailer connector or Anderson PowerPoles to which a variety of standard adapters and solar charge controllers may be linked with standard polarity configuration.  In each corner of the panel, there is a metal grommet/ringlet that can be used to secure the panel to the ground or to another device.  The camouflage pattern covers the external (non-solar cell side) surface of the foldable solar panel.  On the solar cell side, the space between and around the cells is white in an attempt to keep the panel cooler and to maximize its efficiency.   

     Solar Charge Controller – a 5-amp/65-watt or 10.5-amp/140-watt unit that uses MPPT to accelerate solar charging of the battery by up to 30%.  The solar charge controller is protected against over-current by a circuit breaker that can also be used as an ON-OFF switch.  If the system is to be stored for a prolonged length of time, the circuit breaker should be switched to the OFF position and/or the battery should be charged every 2-3 months in order to prevent complete drainage of the battery.   To solar recharge the battery pack, the circuit breaker must be dwitched to the ON position.

     Backpack – 1000-Denier water and abrasion resistant Maxpedition Malaga sling pack that includes: light-weight ballistic nylon fabric, Teflon® fabric protector for grime resistance and easy maintenance, high strength zippers and zipper tracks, UTX-Duraflex nylon buckles for low sound closures, triple polyurethane coated for water resistance, high tensile strength nylon webbing, high tensile strength composite nylon thread (stronger than ordinary industry standard nylon thread), #AS-100 high grade closed-cell foam padding material for superior shock protection,  taped and finished internal seams, paracord zipper pulls, double stitched stress points, and Backtracked or "Box-and-X" stitches for added strength. 

     For a larger backpack so that additional items may be stored within, a Maxpedition Condor II (more expensive) may be substituted for the standard Maxpedition Malaga pack.

     Power Inverter: continuous 300-watt (momentary peak 384 watts), 12VDC to 120VAC, modified sine wave unit that has 2 AC receptacles, and that will automatically shut off before it over-drains the battery.   

     The system weighs 33 pounds.

In the four photos below, one can see the 12-volt DC cigarette lighter socket, how a 12-volt DC-powered LED lighting fixture (not included) plugs into the socket, the illuminated LED (not included) hanging from the solar panel, and the illuminated LED sitting next to the 12VDC cigarette lighter socket adapter.  The 12VDC cigarette lighter socket adapter is configured with a low voltage disconnect circuit that will automatically shut down before it over-drains the battery.
